Started just a few weeks ago, LGBT Aid and Development Workers is meant to be a place where people can come together, network, and have a safe place to discuss LGBT issues in our industry as well get to know each other.
I remember trying to find resources and stories of gay men or lesbians working for an aid organization in a city like Nairobi. What was it like? What did you do? Were you “out” or did you temporary close off any communication about your personal life? I was (and still am) new to international development. I didn’t know what the norm was. Unfortuantely, after hour of searching I found nothing. That inspired me to create this group.
As you can see, the group is new. We are small but growing and I am very excited to see what this will turn into.
